    Eating correctly to look good and feel great is a simple strategy that’s easy to get wrong without the right advice. By working with an educated professional, you can develop a nutritional lifestyle that will help you achieve your goals even quicker, sustain them and make you feel better than you ever have.

    The secret to sustaining success even after you achieve your fitness targets is to live a lifestyle that doesn't make you feel like you’re on a diet. Learning about healthy and nutritious eating will change your life for the better in order to increase your energy levels, improve your metabolism, and even reduce the risk of certain medical conditions.

    A professional trained in clinical nutrition will teach you the ins and out of eating well, show you how to make sense out of all the information out there, and constantly assess your current plan so that you’re always headed in the right direction - you’ll feel as good as you possibly can. On top of that, any and all questions you have can and will be answered, leaving no room for confusion, and keeping you on the correct path.

Karen Lucia

Founder - Head Coach

Coming from a creative background as a professional dancer, I have a great passion for movement and I am fascinated by the never-ending possibilities of the human body. After moving to London my focus shifted to helping women achieve a healthier and good looking body and I started working as a full-time strength and conditioning coach and studied clinical nutrition.

After a few years, I found that the people that actually maintained their body transformation after the initial 3 to 6 months were the ones with the 'strongest mindset' or in other words, those who believed the most in their success. So I started studying different techniques that can build your mind and from there finally understood that that should be THE place to start for any lasting transformation.

I now work mainly with creative women that are preparing or need to constantly be ready for performances, castings, shoots, public speaking, creative and social work.

Georges Ngay-Katalay

Boxing Coach

I have been a boxer and kick boxer for the last 19 years, and I have developed a big passion for this sport. Starting out as a kick boxer, always wanting to improve my skills set, I added boxing to my training which made me a very technical fighter. My teaching philosophy also comes down to this: I believe that the right technique and movement + speed translates into strength which means faster results and a better workout. In my sessions I expect hard work and discipline, with patience, motivation and guidance for you in return.

Together we can find your limit and push beyond them. My motto: It's not about being the best, it's about being better than you were yesterday!

Gym based Boxing
Boxing is one of the best ways to train your cardiovascular system, improve your coordination and burn fat because of the required exertion and the amount of muscles used in the workout.

The discipline needed to learn the technique and the nature of the training have proven to create more willpower in other areas of life and makes people feel empowered and more confident.
Not an easy ride because of the hard work, but we highly recommend it in combination with other forms of strength and metabolic training for optimal body composition results.

Aaminah tells us:“I really enjoyed my time at university but got into the habit of eating out a lot and in between my lectures, so I gained weight very quickly.

When I started my programme with Lifting City I wanted to lose the excess weight I had gained. I set a rough goal of losing about 4-5kg and feeling more comfortable wearing a few bodycon dresses I had bought but never actually worn!”

Aaminah has proven herself to stay focused on her goals despite facing the challenges of exams and being exposed to temptations in her family and social circles. Coming in the programme totally inexperienced, she went from finding walking more than 500m exhausting to smashing balls, ropes, and her initial goal…

Aaminah:“I have really enjoyed the program so far - I feel fitter, stronger and I've lost more weight than I expected! I have also gotten rid of some really bad eating habits permanently, which is something I never thought I would be able to do. Karen has been great at motivating me and tracking my progress, plus there's a lot of variety in the sessions throughout the week so I'm able to try different things which makes everything a lot more fun! Having a nutrition plan to work with and getting measurements done regularly also really helps to keep me on track.

My main goals, for now, are to settle into my new job, and to maintain the regular exercise and healthy eating despite my busy schedule so I can lose some more belly fat and keep on building my strength.”

Tomoko is a trendy mom who enjoys exercising, making stained glass pieces, torturing her husband and child, and supporting her son in his chess development.

Tomoko tells us: “I have a knee injury from childhood which left me with a fear of intensive exercise, and as a result, I was in poor fitness for most of my teens and 20s.  I finally decided to do something about it and joined a gym at the age of 29.  Since then, I have enjoyed doing low-impact aerobics, spinning, pilates, and yoga.  Exercising helped me to lose weight, and feel better about myself, but I didn't build much muscle and didn't learn proper eating habits, so I went through a constant cycle of gaining and losing weight. I have 2 friends (40+) that started to compete in fitness competitions, one in physique and one in strongwoman. They really motivated me to take my fitness more seriously and proved to me that age is just a number! When I started working with Karen, losing fat on my upper arms was my main goal. I was very uncomfortable with how I looked and was reluctant to wear short sleeves because I was so self-conscious. Since then I have learned to control my diet, including drinking less. I lost fat and gained muscle, and feel and look in the best shape of my life.”

 

Tomoko indeed takes her fitness very seriously and shows a lot of discipline in every session. She had some fears to conquer and is now one of our strongest clients!

 

Tomoko: “ It's been a wonderful experience. I have learned to take my health and fitness more seriously, and have learned that I am capable of doing much more than I ever thought. I'm no longer afraid of working out because I have learned that I have the mental strength to push my body further each time. I also find I have less stress, more energy, and I feel much happier with my body and life.

Meet this little powerhouse ANDREIA. Andreia came to London a few years ago after finishing a marketing degree in Portugal, to improve her English, create more experience and discover life.

To be able to do this she started working as a nanny and as such developed an interest and specialty in caring and educating children with special needs. Her ambition is to keep on learning skills to improve her abilities to work with these kids. She is a great person to work with and has been quite successful in developing a solid mindset and drive towards her goals.

Andreia tells us:"Although I have always been in shape, I wasn't the type of person that would think about my fitness or food habits, and I didn't particularly like sports or working out. That left me overtime with some stubborn fat around my tummy, I didn't have the toned body I would like and realized my nutritional knowledge wasn't great.

With Lifting City's programme I have been able to achieve my goals of getting a stronger and athletic looking body. I started to love working out and doing all these exercises I had never done when I noticed how much stronger I got. I also eat a lot more healthily which makes me feel good. Besides that, I have been able to find more emotional freedom which helps me in every step of the way because I feel more confident and less stressed."

For us, as coaches, it's a joy to work with Andreia who gives her all every time, likes challenges, is very open to the advice given to her and likes to learn. Charlotte studied art history and has worked for a number of commercial art galleries since graduating and she is currently working as a PA at a London museum. Having a small gallery of her own has always been her dream. One day she'll move back to the south-west, create a beautiful garden and have lots of animals!

Charlotte tells us: “I set myself some quite conservative goals at the start, having not had much success with various lifestyle changes and healthy eating plans in the past. Overall I wanted to lose some weight, tone up, get fitter and feel stronger and more energised.”

We as coaches noticed quickly that there was 1 big thing that was holding Charlotte back from getting results: Charlotte herself. She is a very courageous woman but didn’t always believe that herself, and she let over and negative thinking get in the way of performing. Once she started to realise that she could actually do the things we asked of her, she quickly became one of our most versatile clients!

Katie studied French and History, spend a year living in France and works for a travel company that arranges cultural tours to different countries around the world. This globetrotter has now embarked on a really big journey and left London to live in Dubai with her fiance.

Katie had trained with Karen 3 years ago, but wasn’t very motivated back then. When she came to us this time around we saw that she was a lot more open to change and prepared to put in the work. We determined that her main goal was to become healthier and fitter with a future with her boyfriend and maybe a baby in mind, and to motivate him to do the same.

Katie tells us:“ The Lifting City programme has been a lot more fun than I expected! It has transformed my outlook and mindset on exercise and food as I find that I now want to eat healthily and go to the gym rather than seeing it as a chore.
